When looking for a Doodle, the letters F1, F1B, etc. will appear frequently. These letters denote the generation of the cross between the two parent dogs. One of the biggest reasons for the recent "Doodle Craze" is that properly bred doodles are non-shedding, hypoallergenic, and intelligent. So F1b Goldendoodles are the offspring between a F1 Goldendoodle and a purebred Poodle in order to achieve more desirable characteristics of a Poodle (intelligence, hypoallergenic, non-shedding). In our opinion an F1b or F1bb Goldendoodles are the best Goldendoodle generational cross because they decrease the chance of the wiry wispy/flat coats in F1's and because they retain increased hybrid vigor.

F1 dogs are the offspring of two purebred dogs that results in a 50/50 mixed breed. Some examples of F1 mixed breeds include Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles, which are both crosses of the Standard Poodle, respectively. The strongest hybrids, according to some, are those from the first generation of crosses.
